Emus
The emus came to Ching from all over but they basically came from the same place. A company in California was trying to sell them for food. Emu was supposed to be this great new low cholesterol meat. It was $30,000 for a breeding pair of emus. The market never took off and the company has been trying to get rid of emus left and right. They will sell an emu to anyone. That's how so many people ended up with companion emus even though they weren't properly zoned to care for them. Some of our emus came directly from the company. Others have come indirectly due to their irresponsible breeding practices.
