FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

1st Annual 5K to Benefit Animals at Salt Lake Farm Animal Sanctuary to Take Place August 8, 2009

The Ching Farm Rescue and Sanctuary is gearing up for its very first 5K run/walk to benefit the animals at the sanctuary. "We are absolutely thrilled at the positive response we have already seen in anticipation of this event," said Jessica Larsen, one of the organizers of the event. Based on community interest and advanced registrations, the inaugural annual walk expects to see hundreds of participants. Participants will walk or run on behalf of an individual animal at the farm. The organizers have also given participants an option to "sleep-in" for the animals for anyone wanting to support the sanctuary but unable to make it to the 5K.

The event will take place at Salt Lake City's Liberty Park. Participants may register for the event in advance at the sanctuary's website, found at www.chingsanctuary.org. In-person registration will also be possible the day of the event starting at 7:00 am. The events' organizers recommend advance registration, as the first 300 registrants will also receive a commemorative t-shirt. The walk begins at 8:00 am. "With hundreds of animals to feed and care for here at the sanctuary, the 5K will be tremendously beneficial for us and make a real difference for our animals," said Faith Ching, executive director of the sanctuary. "This 5K not only promises to be an important opportunity for us to receive financial support from the community, but also to spread our message of compassion and kindness towards farm animals."
